OUR FOUNDER
My name is Wendy Kniffing. In 2008, my life changed dramatically after a severe shoulder injury led to a diagnosis of frozen shoulder. Despite months of unsuccessful medical treatments and increasing physical limitations, I refused to accept a life of pain. Prior to my injury, I had already overcome significant challenges, such as moving from Guatemala, adapting to a new language and culture, and becoming a new parent. I was determined not just to survive but to thrive. That's when I discovered Pilates - a remarkable fusion of mind and body. Guided by supportive instructors who set positive goals and encouraged perseverance, I experienced a profound shift in mindset—from hopelessness and frustration to hope and progress.Ultimately, I realized my true purpose: to empower others through Pilates, helping them unlock their full potential both internally and externally. As the founder of Evolving Pilates, and other pilates studios. I am committed to offering kindness and hope to those facing limitations, guiding them towards a healthier, stronger, and more balanced life through positive goal-setting.
Warm regards,
Wendy Kniffing

OUR INSTRUCTORS

Heaven Leigh – An aspiring certified Pilates instructor and fitness influencer, I cherish the positive impact of a 50-minute Pilates session—it’s the highlight of my day! The benefits of Pilates and fitness inspire me to share the joy with our evolving community. In my free time, I love being with my family, boyfriend, and pets, enjoying nature, water, hikes, and exploring new places. My favorite apparatus is the reformer, especially for side series workouts. Go-to exercise: Side bend series—it strengthens my obliques and supports my spine, creating a strong foundation like pillars holding up a structure. I’m improving my long stretch series and focusing on strengthening my wrists to enhance performance.
Wanda Sing – A native San Diegan with a long-time passion for exercise and fitness. I was introduced to Pilates at Evolving Pilates and immediately found it to be both a physical and mental challenge. I enjoy Pilates because it combines balance, breath, extension, and movement that promote health and calms the mind. There is Pilates for everyone! My favorite exercise is the high bridge—it combines back bending, two-way stretch, opens the thoracic spine, and extends the hip flexors in a challenging, energizing way. My favorite apparatus is the Push Through Bar for its resistance, versatility, and support of Classical Pilates variations. My challenge exercise: The Swan—I’m always working to improve it.

Evelyn Perez – As a family-oriented person, I value the power of a positive community. I love to dance—it brings joy to everyone and connects people through music. My mission is to uplift others before and after workouts, fostering a loving, evolving community. My favorite exercises are the Single Leg Stretch and Spine Stretch Forward; I once struggled to find the C-Curve, but encouraging others to keep trying is my gift—persistence brings success! My favorite apparatus is the chair, which challenges my resilience and reminds me that if I can conquer a chair workout, I can conquer anything. I’m still improving my Teaser and embracing the journey of growth.
Kylie Craig – Pilates has been one of the most transformative parts of my wellness journey. It’s taught me to tune into my body, trust my strength, and show up even when fear creeps in—and that’s what I want others to feel too. Each class is a chance to reconnect, release, and remember your strength. I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel safe, strong, and inspired. Outside the studio, I love nature, solo travel, festivals, and time with loved ones. Favorite apparatus: The mat—for moving from within, and the reformer for fun, flowy movement. Go-to exercise: Series of 5—it grounds me daily. Still working on: Tree—opening hips and hamstrings with patience.

Stephanie Valdez - I enjoy hiking, running, painting, and mailing cards to loved ones.Favorite Pilates exercise? As a pilates student Short & Long spine I love full body exercises that promote spinal mobility. As an instructor I love teaching Swimming. It promotes coordination, pelvic stability, & gets the blood flowing. Favorite apparatus? The Cadillac. It's the adult jungle gym, what's not to love. Exercise I'm still improving? My Teasers, still working on correcting my bad posture and strengthing my back muscles.
Carmen Daggy – I’m a San Diego native, aspiring certified Pilates instructor, and single mom who believes in the power of movement as healing. Exercise has been my lifeline through life’s challenges, helping me navigate grief, stress, and change with grace and resilience. I’m passionate about sharing Pilates as a way to build strength, flexibility, and emotional balance—a tool for self-care and transformation. My goal is to create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in body and spirit. Outside the studio, I love all things creative—crafting, cooking, and DIY projects. Favorite exercise: The Snake (still a work in progress). Least favorite: Anything on the Chair—she keeps me humble every time.
